Jully Black’s powerful vocals made her a platinum-selling recording artist. Leading up to the launch of her fifth album, the Toronto-born soulful songstress, whose current single is called Fever, is currently stage-hopping the country. These are her five must-have items:

Leather Bible:

“My eldest sister, Doreen, gave it to me as a present from Chicago. I call it my designer bible. It’s personal and stylish. I bring it with me on the plane, and most people think it’s a notebook. I’m definitely not embarrassed to carry around a big, chunky bible. My relationship with God is very important to me.”

MAC Lipglass:

“I wear it under my outfit in live shows so I can tell if I’ve reached my heart rate peak. After I had double knee surgery, my doctor said I’d never be able to run again. I ran two 10Ks for Camp Ooch to benefit kids with cancer. So, every time I wear the watch, I think of defying the odds.”

“I’ve been wearing this shade since high school. They haven’t discontinued it. It’s very neutral and light enough to wear at the gym if you want to look a little girly. I wear it all the time, every day. It’s my favourite.”

Saje Natural Wellness Stress Release roll-on:

“I carry around the stress release roll-on. It’s given me the best sleep of my life. You rub it on your shoulders, under your neck, behind your ears. I was at a songwriter’s camp in Lunenburg, N.S., and went through bottles, giving it away to people. It’s owned by a Canadian couple from Vancouver.”

Make Up For Ever Lip Liner Pencil:

“I used to never wear a colour on my lips until my makeup artist Shauna Llewellyn put it on, and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I love this pink.’ It lasts throughout my shows. I actually can’t wear eye makeup because I sweat so much that it burns my eyes. So, the only thing I wear is a lip and a brow.”
